How to Prepare Your Home Before an Exterior Cleaning Visit

A few simple steps before we arrive make the job faster, safer, and better for your property. Here's exactly what to do — and what we handle ourselves.

Most exterior cleaning visits go smoothly with zero prep. But there are a few quick things you can do beforehand that make the job faster, reduce any risk to your belongings, and help us do our best work. Here's the full checklist — split into what you should handle and what we take care of.

What You Should Do Before We Arrive

  • Close all windows and doors: Even low-pressure soft washing can spray mist around corners. Closed windows keep your interior dry.
  • Move breakable items away from the house: Potted plants, ceramic decorations, outdoor speakers, and anything fragile should move at least 5–10 feet from the walls being cleaned.
  • Move vehicles out of the driveway: If we're cleaning your driveway or parking area, vehicles should be moved before we set up. If we're only doing the house, this isn't necessary unless you're parked directly against the work area.
  • Turn off outdoor electrical outlets: If you have GFCI outlets on the exterior, flip them off. Water and electricity near each other is something we watch carefully, and you should too.
  • Put pets inside: Cleaning solutions are safe once diluted and rinsed, but during the job, pets should be indoors for their own comfort and safety.
  • Point out anything you want us to avoid: A fragile fountain, a specific flower bed, anything recently painted — mention it when we arrive.

What We Handle Ourselves

  • Pre-wetting your plants and landscaping before applying any cleaning solution
  • Covering outdoor furniture and fixtures if needed
  • Walking the property before starting to note problem areas and your siding type
  • Rinsing landscaping after the job is complete
  • Final walkthrough to make sure every surface looks right before we leave

If You Won't Be Home

We regularly work on properties where the homeowner isn't present. Just make sure we have access to all sides of the house, the gate is unlocked if there's a fence, and pets are secured. Leave a number where we can reach you if we have any questions during the job.

For Driveway Cleaning

If your driveway job is the main event, move all vehicles before we arrive. If there are oil stains you want us to specifically address, point them out beforehand — some stains benefit from a pre-treatment soak time we can apply while setting up.
